Amigos de Chocolá is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to provide educational support to the community of Chocola,
Guatemala. The agency is operated by a volunteer board of directors and a volunteer director from the community of Chocola so all
proceeds go directly to programming that benefits the people most in need in Chocola. Amigos supports a scholarship fund, primarily
for young women, who would like to continue on in their education to junior high and high school. In rural Guatemala few women graduate
sixth grade. Amigos' scholarship fund provides tuition and expenses for promising young women who have worked hard and succeeded
graduating sixth grade and beating the odds. Amigos is devoted to investing in the future of Chocola by empowering the youth through
education.

January 2012 - As part of its commitment to the future of Chocolá, Guatemala, Amigos de Chocolá
is pleased to announce that we have awarded 10 scholarships to students in Chocola. We are excited to be able to provide 4 new scholarships
after the 6 scholarships last year.
Our students are ten young women pursuring education at the junior high and high school levels. Five of our students (four retruning from
last year) will be attending the junior high school in Chocola and one student will be going to the junior high in the community of Triunfo.
We are also proud of the four young women who are attending several different high schools in the region, beginning to focus on 'specialized
majors' at the highschool level in: computer programming, administration, and business.
We wish our ten students the best of luck this year! The scholarships will cover the cost of sign up fees, monthly tuition,
costs of uniforms and some help for school supplies and travel.
Congratulations to: Cesil, Dorian, Tisha, Maria Teresa, Odilia, Selmy, Petronilia, Paula, Blanca, and Gloria!
