Amigos de Chocolá provides a broad range of educational and social support to the residents of the small rural village of Chocolá, Suchitepequez, Guatemala. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to provide a broad base of educational support to the greater Chocolá community.

"Amigos" Awards 31 Student Scholarships in 2016


In January 2016 Amigos increased the number of scholarships to thirty one.  Scholarships are for students attending escuela basico (Middle School) or escuela diversificado (High School). Since the cost is often unbearable for most students, Amigos sponsor some of the neediest students in Chocolá in an effort to stimulate educational excellence.

Annual post-secondary Educational Grant

Our first program entails the awarding of an annual post-secondary educational grant to a young adult resident of Chocolá. These grants will allow students to attend Guatemalan universities in areas such as archaeology, business, agriculture, medicine, education and hospitality/tourism.
